About The Artist
I am a fabric artist who uses mixed media and textile collage to depict landscapes and abstract art. Working intuitively since 2000, I use fibre, embellishments and quilting in my creations.
The purpose of my quilts is to make something beautiful for myself and at the same time, they are a means of expressing my feelings and experiences. My quilts are all about colour and colour relationships, shape, lines and linear movement.
I draw my inspiration for fibre landscapes from my great love of the out of doors and my ever growing library of doodles, drawings, photographs and designs. Even though I begin with a true representation, I let the fabric, fibres and colours lead me to create a collage that is unique. Once I have chosen a theme, I sort through my ‘stash’ of fabrics and embellishments, choosing the exact texture, tone or shade to best depict and compliment my design. The finished piece may be abstract or very close to the original.
My work has appeared in galleries and numerous private collections.
